Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan lead the way for country at the upcoming American Music Awards. The singers are each two-time nominees heading into the event. Carrie is up for Favorite Female Artist - Country along with Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift, while Luke is in the running for Favorite Male Artist - Country. His competition includes Jason Aldean and Eric Church. Underwood and Bryan are both vying for Favorite Album - Country. Carrie's "Blown Away" and Luke's "Tailgates & Tanlines" are facing Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee" in the category. Other nominees include Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, and Zac Brown Band, who are all up for Favorite Band, Duo, or Group - Country.
The fan-voted American Music Awards features categories spanning a variety of musical genres, including Pop/Rock, Soul/R&B, Rap/Hip-Hop, and Alternative Rock, as well as Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, and Electronic Dance Music.
