Private, Public Services Set For George Jones
Services for the late George Jones have been set for this week. CountryWeekly.com says the Country Music Hall of Famer's family will hold a private funeral Wednesday night. A second service has been scheduled at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday morning, which will be open to the public. Jones' loved ones are also asking fans wishing to pay tribute to the legendary Possum to make a donation to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum or to the Grand Ole Opry trust fund instead of sending flowers.
Jones died last Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, eight days after he had been admitted with a fever and irregular blood pressure. The 81-year-old Jones was in the process of wrapping up his career. He was two months into his year-long farewell "Grand Tour" at the time of his passing.
