Phil Vassar is being recognized by his home state. The Lynchburg, Virginia native is this year's recipient of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters' VAB Distinguished Virginian Award. The prize acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to the state or the broadcasting industry. Phil says he's "extremely proud to be a Virginian," and he considers the award "an incredible honor." He adds that the "music and creative environment" of his hometown "played a huge part" in making him the man he is today.
Fans in the Midwest will get the chance to see this year's Distinguished Virginian in concert this weekend. Phil will be performing in Algona, Iowa on Friday, and he'll make an appearance at Milwaukee, Wisconsin's Summerfest on Saturday.
