Johnny Cash Music Festival TV Special Airing This Weekend
The first annual Johnny Cash Music Festival is making its broadcast debut this weekend. GAC will air an hour-long highlights special from the 2011 event, which featured Rosanne Cash, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson and others. The "Johnny Cash Tribute" is scheduled to have its premiere on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, with a rebroadcast scheduled for midnight. The TV presentation is airing in conjunction with the release of the "Johnny Cash Music Festival 2011" CD and DVD, which will arrive in stores on July 31st. Money from sales of the discs will go to the Johnny Cash Childhood Home Project, a program through Arkansas State University to restore the country legend's boyhood home in Dyess, Arkansas.
The second annual Johnny Cash Music Festival is coming up this fall. Willie Nelson, Dierks Bentley, and The Civil Wars are some of the stars who'll join Rosanne Cash for this year's show, which will take place at ASU's Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas on October 5th.
