Lauren Alaina On Vocal Rest, Skipping Sugarland Concerts

Lauren Alaina won't be performing with Sugarland this weekend after all. The former "American Idol" finalist was slated to open concerts for the duo in Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday and in Detroit on Saturday. But she explains in a statement that her doctor has put her on vocal rest, so she's had to back out of the shows. Alaina doesn't say why she's been ordered to rest her voice. Lauren adds that she's sad that she won't be sharing the stage with Sugarland, and she's sorry to disappoint her fans. But she promises that she'll be back in action soon.
Vonda Shepard has been tapped to fill in for Lauren at the Sugarland concerts. Alaina is scheduled to make her return to the stage with an appearance at the Boots and Hearts Festival in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on August 12th.
