Emmylou Harris Supporting Shelter Dogs With Woofstock
Emmylou Harris' show is going to the dogs -- literally. The singer is launching the new charity event Woofstock, in support of her dog-rescue organization Bonaparte's Retreat. Emmylou is encouraging her fans and their canine companions to check out the show.
Woofstock performers include Harris and songwriters Buddy Miller and Shawn Camp. The event will also feature a number of activities for concertgoers to enjoy with their dogs, and vendors offering dog products. Dogs will also be available for adoption, but Harris says she's not expecting everyone to leave the concert with a new four-legged friend. Woofstock will take place at the Fontanel Mansion in Nashville on August 18th. Additional details are available at www.WoofstockAtFontanel.com.
Harris launched Bonaparte's Retreat in 2004 in honor of her dog, Bonaparte. The shelter dog was scheduled to be euthanized, and the singer saved his life by adopting him. Bonaparte's Retreat takes in dogs whose time has run out at the shelter, and provides them with a temporary home until they can find a permanent family.
