Keith Urban Doing Everything Differently For Next Album
Keith Urban says he's really happy with the progress he's making on his next album. The country star tells Nashville's "Tennessean" that his goal was to create something different from anything he's done before, explaining that he "can't keep remaking the same record." To accomplish this task he's been writing with different people and recording in different studios so his surrounds would be "totally unfamiliar" to him. Keith adds that his strategy seems to be working, and he's coming up with "all sorts of stuff" that he "never would have written with anybody else."
Urban says one song addresses his "transition" over the past six years in way that surprised him. He explains that the track is "pretty upbeat," and he initially "didn't think that would be the place for that kind of lyric." Urban anticipates having his new album in stores sometime next year. The project is the singer's follow up to 2010's "Get Closer."
