Alison Krauss, Union Station Among Top Bluegrass Award Nominees


Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas are among the top nominees for the upcoming International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. They're up for eight awards, including the top prize of Entertainer of the Year. The group's latest studio effort, "Paper Airplane," is in the running for Album of the Year, while the track "Dustbowl Children" is a contender for Song of the Year. In addition, Alison and band members Dan Tyminski, Ron Block, Barry Bales, and Jerry Douglas are each up for individual honors. Dailey & Vince are also among the multiple nominees, while Vince Gill, Tom T. and Dixie Hall, and Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers have a shot at an award as well. Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out lead the list of hopefuls with nine bids, while Blue Highway and The Boxcars have seven nods each.

Nominees for the 2012 IBMA Awards were announced at an event in Nashville Wednesday night. The awards ceremony will take place at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on September 27th.
