Garth Brooks Praises Educators, Performs At "Teachers Rock"
Garth Brooks says every teacher he's ever had has helped to enriched his life. The country superstar tells KABC-TV that teachers are "great influences," and he's grateful "they are who they are." Brooks says kids would be wise to listen to their teachers, and recognize that they're "trying to help you" and they "love you with all their heart." Brooks kicked off the "Teachers Rock" concert, which took place in Los Angeles earlier this week. Highlights from the event will air as an hour-long special airing on CBS Friday night. In addition to Garth, the show features Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley, Josh Groban and the group Fun also perform, while other celebrities share memories of how teachers have impacted their lives.
In addition to honoring teachers, the concert served as a charity event. Money raised through the show is going to DonorsChoose.org, Feeding America, and Teach for America.
