New Natalie Maines-Eddie Vedder Duet Supporting West Memphis Three
The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines continues to support the West Memphis Three. The country singer's latest effort is through the song "Golden State."
Maines was one of the more vocal celebrities campaigning for the release of the West Memphis Three -- Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr. -- who were convicted in the 1993 murders of three young boys. She performed concerts to raise money for their legal bills, and even wrote one editorial about the case for which she was sued. Sunday marked the first anniversary of their release. "Golden State" is from Natalie's performance with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder at the West Memphis Three Rally in Little Rock, Arkansas in August 2010. They released the single as a fundraiser for the WM3 Freedom Fund, a trust that is providing Echols, Baldwin, and Misskelley financial assistance as they transition back into society after spending 18 years in prison.
