The Civil Wars Among Americana Music Award Winners

The Civil Wars are among the winners at the Americana Music Awards. Joy Williams and John Paul White got the nod for Duo/Group of the Year at the event, which took place in Nashville Wednesday night. They were also part of a hefty lineup of stars for the ceremony, serving as presenters along with Rodney Crowell, Sara Watkins, and others. Lee Ann Womack, Tom T. Hall, and the Punch Brothers were some of the performers, while The Mavericks took the stage as the Americana Music Association celebrated the group's reunion. The ceremony concluded with an all-star tribute honoring the late Levon Helm.

The Americana Music Awards recognize excellence in American roots music. The event helped kick off the 2012 Americana Music Festival and Conference, which continues through Sunday in Nashville.
