Darius Rucker Invited To Join Grand Ole Opry
Darius Rucker is joining the Opry. The singer received his official invite to become an Opry member during Tuesday night's show. After a few songs, Darius was asked to take part in a new q-and-a segment of the Opry show. Brad Paisley was in the crowd, and posed two questions. Brad asked if Darius was still a really bad poker player -- Rucker said he was -- then stunned Darius with his follow up.
Darius was at a loss for words immediately following the invite, and was wiping tears from his eyes as the news sunk in. Later in the show he addressed the crowd, and expressed his gratitude to his new Opry family for "opening your arms" and letting him in. He added that this had been "one of the most special nights" of his life. Rucker's Opry induction is set for October 16th. The event will be carried live on GAC's "Noteworthy at the Opry," airing at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
