Underwood Donates Money From Atlantic City Show To Sandy Relief

Carrie Underwood is helping out with Sandy recovery efforts. The country star performed at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey Friday night, which marked the first major event in the community since the devastating late October storm. Atlantic City's "The Press" says the significance of the occasion wasn't lost on Underwood, who told the crowd she always questions "whether the show should go on" following disasters like Sandy. But she explained that since the venue was still operational she figured "it must be here for a reason." She added that she "wouldn't feel right making any money" off the show, and promised that all of her earnings from the concert would be "going right back into the community here."
Underwood had already been using her "Blown Away" tour to support the Red Cross. The trek began in September, well before Sandy struck, and since the start of the tour Carrie has been donating one-dollar from every ticket sold to the organization. Her next show is coming up in State College, Pennsylvania Tuesday night.
