Kacey Musgraves says she's grateful for her single "Merry Go Round." The country newcomer says the song, which paints a rather bleak picture of small-town America, was inspired in part by her own life growing up "in a tiny little Bible belt town in a conservative area." But Kacey says she's not intending to criticize anybody's way of life.
Kacey co-wrote "Merry Go Round" with Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally, whom she calls one of her "favorite songwriting combos." The song has become Musgrave's breakthrough hit, peaking at number ten on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. And now it's also her first gold record. "Merry Go Round" earned the certification for U.S. sales topping the 500-thousand mark.
