Kristian Bush Releases Debut Solo Single In Europe
Sugarland's Kristian Bush is launching a solo career in a rather unusual manner. The country star has released his first single, "Love Or Money," in Europe.
Bush admits it's strange for an American country singer to release a track overseas before offering it up in the U.S., but says in a website letter that it's the result of "the craziest string of good fortune." He explains that a few weeks back he gave the first public performance of the song on BBC Radio Ulster in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Kristian was in the UK for a special edition of the CMA Songwriters series and last month's inaugural C2C: Country To Country festival in London. He says in a conversation with C2C's promoter, he "jokingly asked" if he could "send a 'thank you note' to all the ticketholders" for the event -- and got the green light. He then got permission from his co-writers to include a free download of the song with the "thank you note." Bush says he was then approached by some record executive in London who wanted to formally release "Love Or Money" as a single in the UK and Europe.
Bush adds that he made his solo performance debut at the C2C event, and when he heard "the entire O2 Arena singing the chorus" back to him he knew he was "doing the right thing." Bush has also made a lyric video for "Love Or Money," so fans in the U.S. can hear the song while he's working on a domestic release of the track. And Sugarland fans don't need to be concerned about Bush's solo efforts. The duo hasn't split up -- Kristian is just working on his own while new mom Jennifer Nettles takes time off to be with her baby, who's now four-months old.
