Dan + Shay Getting Used To Being Famous

(Cadott, WI) -- Dan and Shay's Dan Smyers admits it still surprises him to be recognized. The country newcomer tells Eau Claire, Wisconsin's WEAU TV when he was a kid he "couldn't pay people to remember" his name, so "it's cool" to get so much attention. But the singer also admits it's not something he's accustomed to. He says it's "crazy" to have people approach him and Shay Mooney, asking if they're Dan and Shay. Smyers adds that every time it happens he's wondering how they know, and if he's "wearing a name tag."

Dan and Shay had a number of fan encounters as they walked the grounds at Country Fest, where they made their festival debut on Thursday. The Cadott, Wisconsin event continues through the weekend. Carrie Underwood is Friday's headliner, while Brad Paisley caps off the music Saturday night. Florida Georgia Line will close the festival on Sunday.
