Aug. 24, 2014
(New York, NY) -- Garth Brooks is getting special acknowledgment for their work. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, or ASCAP, has tapped the country legend to receive their Centennial Award, a "once-in-a-century" prize recognizing artists' "incomparable accomplishments" in music. Garth is one of the five recipients of the special prize. He'll accept the award along with Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez, and Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim. In addition to the presentations, the event will include tribute performances for the honorees. The ASCAP Centennial Awards are being presented in conjunction with ASCAP's 100th anniversary. The gala, serving as a fundraiser for The ASCAP Foundation, will take place in New York on November 17th.
