Garth Brooks' Ireland Concerts Could Be Cancelled

(Dublin) -- Garth Brooks' upcoming Ireland concerts are in jeopardy. Ireland's Independent.ie says the Dublin City Council has turned down a request for a license to stage the five-night stand at Croke Park, where the country superstar is slated to launch his comeback later this month. Promoter Peter Aiken admits he's "devastated" by the decision. While he's received permission for three shows, he says he "can't say for definite" that any of the concerts will go on as planned. Aiken explains that relocating the shows would be impossible, because Garth's stage was custom-built specifically for Croke Park. Meanwhile, and unnamed source tells Independent.ie Brooks might not agree to scale back his run to just three shows.

"The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event" was originally a three-show event, set for July 25th, 26th, and 27th. Tickets sold out in record time of 90-minutes, so two more dates were added. An estimated 400-thousand fans were expected to attend Brooks' five shows.
