Kacey Musgraves Touring, Collaborating With Katy Perry
Aug. 07, 2014
(Undated) -- Kacey Musgraves says she thinks touring with Katy Perry will be "really interesting and really good" for her. The singer tells Billboard.com she's "proud to be an ambassador" for country music, and adds that it would be "great" if she could also "pick up some new fans along the way." Musgraves says she believes Perry's audience will be receptive to her. She explains that with the pop star "anything goes," and believes fans attend Katy's shows simply to "hear great music and have a great time."
Musgraves doesn't say if she and Perry plan to perform together during the tour. But they have collaborated on a new song. Kacey says it's "loosely based" on "The Wizard of Oz," and tells the story of Dorothy "being in love with the Tin Man, but he didn't have a heart." She admits she and Katy don't have any plans for the song, but hopes that "maybe something will happen with it down the road" Musgraves begins her run as an opener on Perry's "Prismatic Tour" with Sunday's show in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
