Reba McEntire Glad She Went To College
Jun. 17, 2014
(Nashville, TN) -- Reba McEntire says she really got an education in college -- both in and out of the classroom. The country star explains that as a kid she worked the family's ranch with her father and siblings, so she didn't acquire certain domestic skills before she left home.
Reba also admits that as a teenager she wasn't all that interested in going to college, but just wanted to "run barrels in the rodeo and sing." She says her mom -- who was a teacher -- impressed upon her the importance of getting a college education, just in case her dreams of a rodeo or music career didn't "pan out." Reba adds that she's glad she followed that advice.
Photographs and other mementos from Reba's childhood are currently on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The exhibit "Reba: All the Women I Am" will close on Sunday.
Reba McEntire credits her mom for convincing her to continue her studies beyond high school.
