Sammy Kershaw Reflects On Changes In Country Music

(Undated) -- Sammy Kershaw says throughout its history country music has gone through various phases. The singer tells "Country Weekly" he's always called country "the only genre that hates itself," and "wants to be everything else but country music." But he says the current trends into pop, rock, and hick-hop seem different. Sammy explains that over the years he's "seen the changes," and previously, after each deviation its "comes back." But he admits he doesn't "see it coming back" this time, because it's "finally found a route to go."

Kershaw is honoring a traditional country legend with his new album. "Do You Know Me? A Tribute to George Jones," featuring Sammy singing some of George's biggest hits, is in stores now.
