Willie Nelson Happy To Bring Farm Aid To North Carolina

(Undated) -- Willie Nelson says Raleigh is a good location for Farm Aid. The country legend and event co-founder explains that family farmers in North Carolina and throughout the Southeastern U.S. have "struggled to stay on the land," but they've also "pioneered new roads to economic sustainability." He adds that those who live in the region know "the value" of the farmers, and they offer "increasing opportunities for new farmers." Nelson is once again leading the lineup for the Farm Aid concert, along with fellow Farm Aid co-founders Neil Young and John Mellencamp. Longtime supporter Dave Matthews is also on the bill, along with Jamey Johnson, Carlene Carter, Jack White, and others. Farm Aid 2014 is set for the Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh on September 13th. Tickets go on sale Friday.

Through the annual Farm Aid concerts, the organization raises awareness and money to assist family farmers. Since its start in 1985, the charity has brought more than 45-million-dollars to fund programs that support family-run farms and promote the food they grow.
