Born and raised on a dairy farm near Waukon, Iowa (brother and nephew still are milking on it.) Have been involved in country radio in Indianapolis for more than 30 years. Proud of CMA, ACM, and Hall Of Fame awards at home!

The facts:

May 2016 marked 43 years in country radio!

Four years in Madison Wisconsin with WMAD

Time at KSO Des Moines

32 Years at WFMS and the past 5 happy years at HANK FM

Awards include two CMA Large Market Personality of the Year trophies, One from the ACM again for large market personality of the year.

In 2004 was inducted into the Country DJ Hall Of Fame

Still loves George Strait and Reba. Big fan of Kenny, Blake, Luke, and Dierks. If it has steel guitar, banjo, or fiddle I’m probably gonna like it!!

Love to read mysteries, cook, and look at me eat!

Favorite travel destination is Las Vegas. I love the vibe of downtown Fremont Street so try to get rooms there.

Favorite food is Italian. Love that pasta and red sauce!

Favorite TV shows: Chopped on the Food Network, Love It or List It on HGTV, the Sunday suspense thrillers on Lifetime on Sunday afternoons are cool too.

I have been known to indulge in a dirty martini once in while. Red wine is good and an ice cold beer hits the spot too.

Sylvia and I have one pet, Coco one very spoiled cat!

Sylvia and I were going through my picture collection the other night and it hit me, like Kenny's song "Don’t Blink!" It was May 13, 1973 when I started out in radio dressed in a coat and tie reporting for duty in the newsroom in Madison, Wisconsin... 44 years ago! I didn't last...
JD Cannon mourns Merle Haggard: I can’t explain the empty feeling in my heart right now. Merle Haggard is gone. One of my all time favorite country singers. There might be nothing I looked forward to more than a Merle Haggard show. I remember a time at the Indiana State Fair...
One of the coolest parts of my job is meeting and enjoying new talent when they come to visit. I always say that anyone who walks through our door is three minutes away from being the next Luke Bryan. That three minutes being a monster hit song. You just never know! Recently a...
I've got some fond memories of my years at the Indiana State Fair. Garth, George, Reba, Merle, and Willie shows for instance. But my favorite things at the State Fair are the good eats! Come on, now how can anyone resist those deep fried delights? Through the years Oreos, cheese...
With George Strait retired and on the bench, what country music needs is a new traditional country hero! That's my take on the situation, and Easton Corbin is just the artist to do that. Somehow he manages to remain true to his traditional country roots and still bring a fresh "...
Pageant Material—the title of the award winning Kacey Musgraves latest album project, one of two from the Mercury Nashville label that arrived in stores recently. If you love Kacey Musgraves, this collection will not disappoint. Pageant Material (including the title cut,...
Okay, it's not American Idol, The Voice, or Who's Got Talent! It is a whole lot of fun on a Friday night and a way to support local bands in Central Indiana . It's the summer tradition, Battle of The Bands presented by Jim Beam at the 8 Seconds Saloon. Preliminaries began last...
If you know me, well you know I'm not the most tech savy guy. That given though I love to talk country music and what's happening around the area. That will be my goal with this opportunity to blog! You have something you think you'd like to hear about, then let me know! Thanks...
