Where better to propose to his forever “Take Back Home Girl” than in the backyard of her family’s home??
While they were home at the Bushnell’s in Oregon for Father’s Day weekend surrounded by family, Chris Lane proposed to Lauren Bushnell.
“I knew she wouldn’t want some elaborate crazy proposal,” Lane tells PEOPLE. “So, I decided to keep it pretty casual…”
As they were sitting in the backyard, Chris brought out his phone and asked Lauren if it was okay to play the song he wrote for her and capture the first moment she heard it. That was the first “yes.”
“Big, Big Plans” plays and as the lyrics say, “…’cause right now we’re back in her hometown and I’m down on one knee, I guess she finally figured out I’m gonna ask her to marry me…” he leads her to the grass to get down on one knee. Watch the full proposal below!

Chris Lane, 34, and former Bachelor alum Lauren Bushnell, 29, have been dating since November of 2018, they took it a step further in March 2019 by moving in together, and just a few months later the happy couple is engaged! Lauren said in her Instagram announcement, “I feel so incredibly blessed that every misstep, mistake and heartache has led me to you. I couldn’t be happier to call you mine, forever.
