Morning Mindbender for Tuesday 3/13/18

According to a new study, fake news stories on Twitter are 70% more likely to have this happen to them than real news stories are.

Getting Retweeted

According to the study, fake news stories spread about six times as quickly across Twitter as real news stories do. The fake stories also reach higher levels of unbroken retweeting chains about 20 times as fast as a real story meaning someone just retweets it without anyone pointing out that it is not factual. I know there is a lot of debate about what are and aren't fake and real stories but the lesson is - don't believe everything you see on Twitter (or any other social media)! Have you ever retweeted or reposted something that turned out not to be true?
